Projects in Development

Science for Your Neighbor Workshops

Hosting virtual workshops, in person seminars, video series on talking about scientific work to anyone. Create exercises and formulas to ensure concepts are effectively communicated, partner with other sci-comm organizations for a wider audience. Host competitions for trainees to present their work to a panel of non-expert judges.

Orphan Diseases

Create a mechanism to promote orphan disease awareness (<200k cases) partner with foundations, create grants in order to promote further research into diseases that affect less people.

Ask a Scientist

Host regular panels of experts in a particular condition in which people can submit questions ahead of time or ask live, giving scientists to talk to people about their experience and concerns surrounding a condition. Gives an opportunity to talk about challenges in the field, distinguishing between what the field knows versus an individual’s knowledge to showcase the amount of information required to fully understand a condition in relation to the human body.

Scientific Journal

Create a journal specifically for the purposes of scientific communication to the public where data can be submitted. This requires collaboration with publishers due to copyright materials. Alternatively, a entirely standalone journal can be developed targeted to more junior researchers as a stepping stone into scientific publishing if there is insufficient data for a larger publication or substantially negative data.
