What you can do to get involved

Many non-profits work towards important causes, and we all start our journeys small. But for us to become something big, that journey starts with you.

Here are some things you can do to help our cause:

  1. Get the word out there – Share our podcast, follow us on LinkedIn, Instagram, and BlueSky. Watch our streams on Twitch. Each of our current efforts are geared to communicating science and making research more accessible. The most recent topic might not be your cup of tea, but someone you know might want to know about the newest research for someone they know.
  2. Connect us to other groups – There are organizations out there big and small that work on research or science communication. Some organizations have a very local presence and can be difficult to find. If you know of any that align with our mission to communicate science or connect with researchers let us know!
  3. Become a reviewer – review and critique proposals being submitted by scientists.
We have 3 types of reviewers

Biomedical Expert: scientists that review the proposals to make sure they are scientifically accurate.

Non-biomedical Expert: scientists in other fields to make sure the proposals make sense and that field specific language isn’t limiting understanding.

General public reviewer: a person who isn’t in science that checks to make sure the proposal can be understood by anyone that doesn’t dedicate their life to research.

    Apply here.

  4. Volunteer with us – Join our organization and contribute behind the scenes to help bring what we do all together to make this as seamless as possible, learn more about what we are looking for here.
  5. Donate – Right now, everyone that works on Research in Reach is a volunteer. We would love to do this full time, donate here. Alternatively, find a proposal on Support a Scientists that aligns with your interests!
